European Court of Human Rights
When a criminal case has been heard in the court of the last instance (The Dutch Supreme Court) the parties involved may still be of the opinion that their human rights (for example the right to a fair trial) have been violated during the relevant proceedings. Such parties have the right to submit a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (EHRM).
The lawyers at Knoops’ Advocaten have ample experience with conducting proceedings at the EHRM. A complaint regarding a violation of the European Treaty on Human Rights must to be submitted to the EHRM within six months of the pronouncement of a judgment by the highest national court.
Please contact us if you wish to appeal to the EHRM and the relevant time limit has not lapsed.
